Introducing Louwrence van der Westhuizen, an exceptional artist whose musical journey began when he first picked up a guitar. At the tender age of 7, Louwrence discovered his deep passion for music, setting the stage for an extraordinary career that would captivate audiences around the world.

Louwrence’s musical talents flourished as he honed his skills on the guitar, immersing himself in the world of melodies and chords. With each strum of the strings, he found solace and expression, fueling his desire to explore the limitless possibilities of music.

As he grew older, Louwrence’s musical curiosity led him to venture into other instruments, trying his hand at keyboards and expanding his musical repertoire. However, his love for the guitar remained steadfast, and he found himself drawn back to his first musical love.

Embracing his role as both a guitarist and lead singer, Louwrence embarked on a transformative journey as a member of the esteemed band Ladds. Together, they created captivating music and mesmerizing performances that left a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of witnessing their artistry.

Louwrence’s commitment to his craft is unwavering. His dedication to his music drives him to continuously seek new opportunities to share his gift with the world. With a relentless passion for performance, he strives to grace the stage 3 to 4 times per week, delivering soul-stirring performances that leave audiences in awe.

Throughout his career, Louwrence formed a powerful partnership with bass guitarist Riaan Truter, creating a musical bond that spanned 15 remarkable years. Seven of those years were spent together in Ladds, while an additional eight years were dedicated to the band Nightshift. Their collaboration resulted in unforgettable musical moments that left an indelible mark on the music scene.

Louwrence’s journey hasn’t been without its twists and turns. At the age of 29, he made the difficult decision to prioritize family commitments, temporarily stepping away from the music scene. However, his passion for music proved irresistible, leading him to once again embrace his artistic calling.

In his solo endeavors, Louwrence continued to grow and evolve as a musician. Notably, in 1996 and 1997, he joined the rock band Cannon, showcasing his versatility and musical prowess. Though the years brought moments of pause, Louwrence’s love for music always prevailed, leading him back to the stage time and time again.

With a renewed sense of purpose, Louwrence embarked on a solo journey, captivating audiences with his heartfelt performances. In August 2011, fate intervened when he was joined by the talented lead guitarist, Andy D’Alton. Together, they formed the dynamic duo “Slip-Jam,” with Andy’s masterful guitar work complementing Louwrence’s heartfelt vocals. Their synergy shines through in their performances, creating a powerful and engaging musical experience.

Louwrence’s songwriting skills have also come to the forefront in recent years, as he began crafting his own original material. These humble yet compelling creations allow listeners to witness the depth of his artistry and immerse themselves in his musical storytelling. Each note, each lyric, is a reflection of Louwrence’s passion and dedication to his craft.

In addition to his solo endeavors and Slip-Jam, Louwrence leads a 6-piece band known as “Slip-Jam” the Band. Together, they create a rich and immersive musical experience that showcases their shared love for their craft.
