About Vosloo Bekker
Vosloo Bekker has been working in the music industry for close to 30 years. He is a singer songwriter and music producer. He is a passionate performer of popular folk/rock cover music including that of his popular own works.
Vosloo is strongly influenced by bands such as Crowded House, Sting, Damien Rice, Bob Dylan and soulful music that rings authentic and true.
On completion of high school in Durbanville, Western Cape, South Africa, Vosloo joined the SAPS for his compulsory military service. In 1994, Vosloo surrendered his 9 mm for his weapons of choice.
Armed with an acoustic guitar, an engagingly toneful, virtuoso vocal ability and a strong survival instinct, he embarked as a solo artist for the ever so challenging music scene in Cape town. He quickly grabbed the attention of local musicians and together formed the popular 90’s bands, Stone free and Shove of which he was the lead singer.
Harmonious songs written and performed by himself and co members featured daily on major radio stations of the time including 5fm. These bands toured our diverse country and played a myriad of bars, nooks and crannies to the delight of many.
In 1999 Vosloo relocated to London, the heart of the United Kingdom.
During this time he performed with colourful musicians from multiple nationalities in the hundreds of venues and theatres that this cosmopolitan city had on offer – Including the famous Springbok bar in Covent Garden and the ever talked about Walkabout Tavern in Shepherds Bush.
His adventures took him from living in a tent, busking for a meal to popular venues in Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, New Zealand and Australia.
Vosloo returned to Cape town in late 2004.
His love for music led him to study music production and audio engineering.
He attended the well respected Berklee College of Music, Boston, USA, amongst others.
Vosloo is the owner of Mastersound Recording and Mixing studios in Kuilsrivier, Cape Town.
Vosloo is currently performing in and around Cape town, working on an exciting acoustic album for release in 2023.
